Farmhouse Reimagined,
Pangbourne
Brief
Extension to private dwelling and new pool room with subterranean link with steeply sloping site. The house has little relationship with extensive gardens to the West.
Challenges
Move ‘heart of the house’ to the rear to create views/relationship to gardens through glazing and open plan design. Crafted extension using traditional material pallet in keeping with existing building, with modern interventions such as slim-line glazing large plateau roof light to bring light into kitchen.
Solution
Internal underground linking stairway to the new pool room at lower ground floor, creating a unified addition to dwelling set on sloping site.
